We were super busy in 5th and 6th class last week as we took part in Maths Week! We tried to complete two extra maths activities daily, on top of our normal maths and tables games that we play every day!
Monday:
- We started our 100 questions tables challenge.
- We worked in teams with our friends to complete two maths quizzes on our favourite website, Kahoot!
Tuesday:
- We used lots of maths talk while playing ‘Would You Rather’ as we had to give reasons and examples for our answers.
- We had lots of fun working in pairs to create tangram images like cats, swans, rabbits etc.
Wednesday:
- We worked with our partners to play ‘Guess Who?’ using 100 squares and used lots of maths talk to ask questions like ‘Is it a multiple of 8?’ or ‘Is it more than/less than 20?’ etc.
- We then completed some ‘Figure Me Out’ worksheets. First of all we figured Ms. Brennan’s sheet out and then we created our own questions that someone in our class would have to try and ‘Figure Out’ about us!
Thursday:
- We moved into teams to take part in a Maths Week Quiz which was great fun… who knew Taylor Swift would be on a maths quiz??
- Due to popular demand, we did some more tangrams! But this time we turned it into an art activity by cutting out the tangrams and creating any image that we liked!
Friday:
- We finished our 100 questions tables challenge.
- Unfortunately our maths trail had to be postponed due to the rain, but we look forward to taking part in it next week instead!
Overall, we had a fantastic maths week in 5th and 6th class! 🥳
